Thousand Reasons Thursdays - Journal Entry 4

Writer: Julee WilsonJulee Wilson

One of the nurses in the NICU saw me writing in Paxton's journal one day and suggested I leave by his bedside for the evening and graveyard staff to jot any special notes in. Since I didn't want to miss out on any of his milestones, I thought it was a great idea! This next journal entry was left by one of Paxton's Respiratory Therapists. You can read more about her in the memoir itself when it's ready!

Happy 100th day - This morning, we had a chance to bond & "talk" while feeding - Such fun - All good thoughts & wishes go to you - we all wish you the best to get stronger & healthier & to go home - not that we don't love having you here --

I passed along all my words of wisdom to you - especially how to "handle" your parents - as to how to keep them in line. Boy do they have a surprise ahead of them -

Keep up the good work -

Love

Judi was a force to be reckoned with. She was very matter-of-fact, and honestly I was really put off by her when we first met. But the more time we spent in the NICU and interacting with her, the more she grew on both Casey and me. She seemed to soften and was always an incredibly strong advocate for Paxton's care and health. I heard recently that she passed away a few years ago. I am grateful to have known her and have her be part of Paxton's Care Team. I'm especially grateful I have this little note in his journal as a remembrance of her.
